Norma Ishak
Norma Ishak began her dream of designing as a young girl. Crafting her skills of knitting, needlepoint and lace-making while in Catholic school, she took to the study of her crafts by the age of 15. Encouraged by the Nuns, Norma began to experiment with patternmaking and her first construction of custom pieces. Believing that a beautiful scarf could complete any woman’s ensemble she chose to concentrate on neckwear. At the time, she began gifting them to friends and family, an accomplishment for a girl still in her teenage years. Her craftsmanship began to create quite the buzz around her small town. Lebanese women began to take note of these beautiful scarves on the most fashionable of women and decided that they too needed a piece from the young designer.
Today, Norma still believes in her childhood hopes. Her reflections on her work, and fashion as a whole, have grown with her. To Norma, style is individual and cannot be replicated. This idea is the reasoning behind her line of scarves. Each being handmade and custom designed; every piece has a story, a detail unlike any other, and a tale for the woman that is to call it her own.
In giving her clientele the most superlative of offerings, Norma has scoured the world for raw materials she deems satisfactory for her scarves. Her yarns are flown in from the premier manufacturers in Europe. Mongolia offers the best cashmere, while her lace comes from Switzerland and the Bretagne region of France. Silks come from the finest silk ateliers in Paris. Whilst, outside of Europe, her feathers are shipped from the most exotic African birds and Peruvian Alpaca’s shed their finest wools for her creations. At times, her pieces feature beads from Japan and crystals from the house of Swarovski. Her most opulent pieces to date have featured semiprecious stones. Her rare and luxurious materials allow Norma to offer the finest of neckwear for any woman that needs something small to call their own. Much like she originally did, as a young girl looking for something beyond her own dreams.
